Safety tips
Sendbud connects people who haven't met before. These tips help keep you, your items and your money safe.
For everyone
- Keep the conversation in Sendbud's chat. It's a record if anything goes wrong.
- Only pay and get paid through Sendbud. Money paid any other way isn't held for you and can't be refunded.
- Meet in a busy public place, in daylight if you can, such as an airport terminal, a shopping mall or a bank.
- Tell someone you trust where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Check ratings, and trust your instincts. You can decline or cancel before pickup.
- Never share your password, card details or one-time codes. Sendbud will never ask for them in the chat or by email.
- Watch for common scams: someone paying too much and asking for the difference back, pressure to hurry, links to payment pages outside Sendbud, or requests to move the conversation elsewhere to pay.
For senders
- Describe your item honestly, including what it's worth.
- Pack it so the traveller can open it and close it again. Expect them to look inside.
- Keep receipts for new or valuable items, in case customs asks.
- Don't send anything you can't afford to lose. Sendbud doesn't insure items.
- Share the recipient's details only in the chat, and only what the traveller needs to hand the item over.
- Only confirm delivery once the recipient has the item and has checked it. Confirming pays the traveller and can't be undone.
For travellers
- Inspect every item at pickup. You're the one carrying it through customs. Check it against our Prohibited items list.
- Refuse sealed packages you can't open, and anything you're unsure about. You can cancel before pickup.
- Don't let anyone add to an item after you've checked it, or pack your bag for you.
- Check your airline's baggage and dangerous goods rules, and the customs allowances at both ends. Declare items when you need to.
- Take photos of the item at pickup and at handover, and keep them until the delivery is complete.
- Only hand the item to the recipient the sender named in the chat.
- Mark the item picked up once you have it, and delivered after handover, so the sender can confirm. Add your bank details before you travel, so you're paid as soon as they do.
If something goes wrong
- If you're in danger, contact the police first. In Nigeria, call 112.
- Report a user, a scam attempt or a prohibited item from the menu next to their name on a trip or request, or email support@sendbud.app with a link to the request. The same menu lets you block someone, so you no longer see each other's trips or get requests from each other.
- If there's a problem with a delivery, don't confirm it. Open a dispute on the request page while the money is still held. Our Refund policy explains what happens next.
